Hatley Park National Historic Site has evolved through several interesting historical iterations. Beginning as the family home of James Dunsmuir, once a Lieutenant Governor of the province, it became a military academy and served that purpose for 50 years and finally as part of Royal Roads University. The castle may seem familiar as it has been used in a number of films and television productions.
