Perhaps it was because Cortona was the first of the Tuscan hill towns we visited that it impressed us with it’s charm and beauty. Perhaps it was because of the promise of rain that the crowds of tourists stayed away that day and left the place to a few of us to explore in relative peace. It will remain one of my favourite places.
The only black mark on the day was while visiting a beautiful monastery, a few kilometers, outside of town, called “Le Celle” we had our car broken into and my camera bag stolen. The loss of the contents of the bag would nag at me for the remainder of our holiday.
