Our AirBnB Hostess in La Spezia recommended we stop in Portovenere and we are glad we took her advise. As we headed to Cinque Terre in the morning the ferry we were on did not dock there so, unfortunately, we only had a short visit to the town on our return trip. Had we known about Portovenere we would have added a day to our stay in the area so we could explore the town. The fortifications build on the rocks were powerful and impressive.
